Fr. Colin Wen
Pastor
Fr. Colin was born and raised in Palo Alto, CA. He went to school at UC Davis where he studied Sociology and American History. He then spent a year volunteering on Skid Row in Los Angeles before discerning a call to the priesthood. He was accepted as a seminarian for the Diocese of Sacramento and studied at St. Patrick Seminary in Menlo Park and the North American College in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2013 and has served as Parochial Vicar at St. Patrick in Grass Valley, St. Canice in Nevada City, Immaculate Conception in Downieville, St. Peter in Dixon, and St. Vincent Ferrer in Vallejo. In 2017 he was appointed as administrator and then as Pastor of St. Katharine Drexel in Martell. In October of 2025, he was appointed as the Pastor of St. John the Evangelist in Carmichael. He comes to this parish with his dog Angus and is excited to get to know the parish community.

Keith Johnson
Deacon
Deacon Keith was born and raised in Roseville. There he attended St. Rose Parish and eventually found his way to the University of San Francisco where he studied accounting. In his last year of college, he met Pam and they were married at St. Ignatius Parish. They eventually settled in Carmichael, where they became parishioners here at St. John the Evangelist. They were blessed with three children - Abby, Erin, and Liam, all of whom attended our Parish School. As a family, they enjoy the outdoors; when Keith plans a family vacation, it includes wading through a stream in search of trout. Keith never considered the diaconate. Taken by surprise, Deacon Larry Neikamp and Fr. Tom Bland gave Keith a flyer that discussed an upcoming diaconate formation class. They suggested he consider it—which he did. You will probably run into Deacon Keith if you are preparing for marriage or the baptism of a child or just on Sunday for Mass.

Jack Wilson
Deacon
Deacon Jack is a native Californian born in Southern California, lived most of my life in Northern California, and currently serving as a Permanent Deacon here at St. John the Evangelist (SJE). He has been married to his wonderful wife Jennie for over 50 years and is blessed with two adult daughters and five grandchildren. He retired as an Electrical Engineer after spending most of his career with military contractors – flight simulators and aircraft radios. SJE has been the center of his Catholic life. He became Catholic at SJE and in continuing his Catholic education, he entered into formation to become a Permanent Deacon, ordained by Bishop Soto on August 30, 2018. Deacon Jack is often seen preparing families for a baptism, couples for a marriage, guiding people into the Catholic faith, or working at the Food Locker. He hopes to see you around the parish!
