Parish Purpose

​Why do we exist? This is the most fundamental question for any organization and perhaps most important for the most important organization in the world, the Catholic Church. And while the purpose of the Catholic Church is clear, to bring all to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, the existence of parishes in certain localities in certain cultures begs the question of how we make the mission of the Church fruitful here in Amador County. Below is our current purpose statement.

St. John the Evangelist Parish is a welcoming and responsive faith community, nourished by the Word of God and the Eucharistic Table.  We are open and trusting in the love of Jesus Christ to advance the power of the Holy Spirit, within the parish and beyond, by living the Gospel.
